ONE of America’s rising National Football League (NFL) stars lost his heart to the beauty of Africa during his adventure-filled visit to Victoria Falls River Lodge.

Brett Hundley – lauded by scouts for his athleticism and toughness in the position he plays of Quarterback – will be playing for the Arizona Cardinals in the new season of the NFL. He previously played professional football for the Seahawks and GreenBay Packers and played college ball at the University of California, Los Angeles.

During his off-season, he is an avid tourist, scenic photographer and foodie.

As a huge world traveller, Victoria Falls River Lodge was one of the coolest experiences of my travelling thus far. Everything was just spectacular. This trip was one of my favourites of all time… easily top 3. Just the lodge along with the activities were things I’ll never forget. Your place will FOREVER be in my heart,” said Hundley.

The visit to Victoria Falls River Lodge formed part of a travel project called “Adventures through History” starting in Jerusalem and working down through to Africa, which Hundley teamed up with GoPro for.

“The trip spanned eight countries (Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Greece, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa and Ethiopia) over 21 days. It was a very fast-paced, action-packed trip documenting the amazing culture, history, and beauty throughout each country. This was my first visit to Victoria Falls and my first time ever travelling through Africa,” said Hundley.

And for a young, energetic pro footballer and his companions, Ravens LBer Kenneth Young and Cadija Harris, there were plenty of activities to keep the adrenaline pumping in and around Victoria Falls River Lodge.

We did just about everything possible in our few days there. We did the Sunset boat cruise twice which was amazing both nights. We also did the Devils Pool tour, bungee jumped at Victoria Falls Bridge, and took a helicopter ride around the Falls and nature reserves! A truly unforgettable and action-packed trip,” said Hundley.

Devil’s Pool is a natural rock swimming pool on the edge of Victoria Falls and offers dramatic views, with a heart-racing swimming experience to match. The low water level allowed Hundley to swim in this treacherous world-famous pool: “That whole excursion was one I’ll never forget. I am very adventurous and being able to lay on the edge of the Falls and get a first-hand look at them was amazing,” said Hundley.

Hundley commended Victoria Falls River Lodge’s staff for their amazing hospitality during his stay at the lodge.

“Everyone was so accommodating and helpful with everything. From our arrival to our stay to our departure everything was on time and top-notch. The facilities were also the best I’ve seen in all my travels. Having been to 25 countries, Victoria Falls River Lodge blew me away in terms of its beauty. Being in a Tree House right over the water was just absolutely wild”.
