Sole Use Game Viewer

Sole use of a vehicle for game drives is subject to the availability of vehicles on the day i.e. if sufficient vehicles are available on a particular drive, no charge shall be levied.

Guests wishing to secure a guaranteed sole use game drive vehicle may pre-book this at the additional rate of $220.00 per drive.  (T’s & C’s apply)

Note: Families wishing to take children aged 4 – 7 years on game drive during standard early morning / late afternoon game drive times (i.e. not Junior Discoverers Drive) will require a sole use game viewer – per details above.

 

  • This rate includes the following:
    • Transfers (shared) from/to the Victoria Falls Airport

Accessibility, Safety & Child Policies

  • The pathways between the tents are mostly sand – although some areas have short decked walkways.
  • Pathways wind through the natural bush – guests are encouraged to please exercise vigilance for wildlife.
    • The camp is safe, as wildlife often tends to shy away from humans and the movement in the camp, but if ever unsure please radio/contact the front desk to request being escorted from or to your tent.
  • There is a golf cart available that can shuttle guests to and from their rooms if necessary.
  • Night watchmen are also on duty to escort guests to their rooms after dark.
  • These night watchmen also patrol throughout the night hours.
  • Although the lodge is wheelchair accessible – and the rooms and bathroom areas sufficiently spacious to manoeuvre a wheelchair – there are no wheelchair specific bathroom facilities or bedrooms at the Camp.
  • It is recommended that guests in wheelchairs have an assistant travel with them.
  • Mobile ramp-ways are available – for areas that have stairs.
  • We kindly request that we be given forewarning of guests travelling with any form of disability so that our Team may be as prepared as possible for their arrival and ensure all proceedings are seamless and the stay is comfortable & enjoyable.
  • Victoria Falls River Lodge is situated in the Zambezi National Park
  • The Camp is unfenced and thus game can (and does) move through the camp unimpeded.
  • Tents are spaced 40-60 m apart
  • We do not recommend that children younger than 16 years occupy a tent without sharing with an adult / older sibling
  • The onus is on the parent to ensure that their child is accompanied at all times when moving between tents and the main area and anywhere around Camp etc.
  • Each tent has its own private plunge pool and although there are a limited number of (plunge pool) pool nets (available upon request) the onus is on the guest/parents to ensure that their children/party (esp. those unable to swim) are accompanied /monitored at all times when at the tent
  • The public pool is also unfenced, uncovered and unmanned – again, the onus is on the parent/guest to ensure the safety and see to the supervision of their children/party members.
  • Age restrictions on activities are in place for safety reasons and regrettably remain enforced by management without exception or change under any circumstances.
  • 0 – 3-year-olds: Accommodated at no extra cost.
  • 4 – 11-year-olds:  accommodated at 25% of the adult sharing rate, with their parents (or 2 x adults) within a Family Suite.
  • ?12 – 17-year-olds:  accommodated at 50% (half) of the adult sharing rate, with their parents (or 2 x adults) within the Family Suite.
  • 18 years and older: persons aged 18 years and older are considered adults and will, therefore require their own room/suite at the applicable adult rates.
  • Children accommodated in their own tent will be charged the full adult rate (i.e. the first two occupants of a tent (regardless of age) shall be charged the full adult sharing rate where after the age appropriate discounted sharing child rate(s) shall apply where applicable.

  • Outside of standard Game Drive times – timing is seasonal and in consultation with Management
          • Families wishing to take children aged 4 – 7 years on game drive during standard early morning / late afternoon game drive times (i.e. not Junior Discoverers Drive) will require a sole use game viewer – per details above.
      • ‘Standard’ game drives for children aged 8 years and older are included in the rate
      • Management reserves the right to remove any unruly / disruptive children from the vehicle and return them to Camp before resuming the game drive.

Boat Cruise (incl. snacks and soft beverages)

  • Children aged 0-3 years are not permitted on river cruises
  • Children aged 4 years and older are permitted on the river cruises
  • Management reserves the right to remove any unruly / disruptive children from the vessel and return them to Camp before resuming the cruise.
Camp cots are available with prior arrangement and each accommodates a maximum of one child.  

NB:  Children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians.  The camp is situated in a National Park and is unfenced.  The pools are not fenced or manned by staff. Child minding services are available at an additional cost and are conducted by lodge staff.

NOTE: owing to the Lodge being unfenced and located in a National Park – and given that the tents are spaced between 40-60m apart – it is not recommended that children younger than 16 years occupy a tent on their own (without an older sibling / adult present).

Family rooms can accommodate up to 3 children – under the age of 18 years (sharing with adults) – in a smaller room adjoining the main bedroom area.  This alcove is separated from the main area by a curtain and contains a bunk bed and one single (3/4 size) bed.  The bathroom is open plan and shared.

GAME DRIVE (INCLUDED IN ACCOMMODATION RATE)

      • A Game Drive (in the Zambezi National Park) is one of the 2 x game activities (per person per day) included in the accommodation rate.
      • Guests have the option of a morning and/or afternoon Game Drive.
      • All guests are to sign an Activities Indemnity Form (part of Guest Registration form completed upon check in).
      • All Game Drives are conducted by qualified Field Guides.
      • As with all Wildlife and Outdoor Adventure Activities there is an inherent element of risk involved in Game Drives.
      • Victoria Falls River Lodge will take every possible contingency to minimize risk, but as per the terms and conditions for Game Drives, as spelt out in the Indemnity Form (and explained by the Field Guide in person), the Management and the Employees of Victoria Falls River Lodge are not accountable for any loss of property or injury sustained while traversing in the Zambezi National Park.
  • Rates:
    • No additional charge – included in the accommodation rate
  • SOLE USE GAME VIEWER
    • As the option of a Game Drive is included in the accommodation rate, and there are a finite number of vehicles available at any time, Victoria Falls River Lodge cannot deny guests the opportunity to join in on this activity in the (in favour of a party that would prefer the exclusive use of a vehicle) when there are still open seats available on the vehicle in question.
    • Sole use of a vehicle for game drives is therefore subject to the availability of sufficient vehicles on the day i.e. if enough vehicles are available on a particular drive, no charge shall be levied.

However
Guests wishing to secure a guaranteed sole use game drive vehicle (i.e. not willing to “wait and see”) may pre-book this at the additional rate net of $195.00 per drive.  (T’s &C’s apply)

RIVER CRUISE (INCLUDED IN ACCOMMODATION RATE)

      • A River Cruise (in the Zambezi River) is one of the 2 x game activities (per person per day) included in the accommodation rate.
      • Guests have the option of a sunrise and/or sunset River Cruise.
      • All guests are to sign an Activities Indemnity Form (part of Guest Registration form completed upon check in).
      • All River Cruises are conducted by qualified Skippers.
      • As with all Wildlife and Outdoor Adventure Activities there is an inherent element of risk involved in River Cruises.
      • Victoria Falls River Lodge will take every possible contingency to minimize risk, but as per the terms and conditions for River Cruises, as spelt out in the Indemnity Form (and explained by the Skipper in person), the Management and the Employees of Victoria Falls River Lodge are not accountable for any loss of property or injury sustained while cruising on the Zambezi River.
  • Rates:
    • No additional charge – included in the accommodation rate
  • SOLE USE RIVER CRUISE
    • As the option of a River Cruise is included in the accommodation rate, Victoria Falls River Lodge cannot deny guests the opportunity to join in on this activity in the (in favour of a party that would prefer the exclusive use of a vehicle) when there are still open seats available on the boat in question.
    • Owing to the limited number of boats available – sole use of the river cruiser cannot be offered.
    • A ‘private’ cruise may however be considered if it were to fall outside of the typical river cruise times.  The details would however be subject to Camp logistics on the day and would have to be discussed with Management.
    • Should a plan be able to be made – an additional net charge of $195.00 per cruise may be levied.

UPPER ZAMBEZI CANOEING SAFARIS (AVAILABLE AT AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE)

General Terms and Conditions:

  • Minimum age for children accompanied by parents on Canoe Safaris is 10 years of age.
  • All Canoe Safaris subject to a minimum of 2 Guests.
  • All Guests are to sign Canoe Safari Indemnity Forms.
  • All Canoe Safaris are conducted by Licensed Professional Canoe River Guides.
  • As with all Wildlife and Outdoor Adventure Activities there is an inherent element of risk involved in Canoeing Safaris.
  • Victoria Falls River Lodge will take every possible contingency to minimize risk, but as per the terms and conditions for Canoeing Safaris, as spelt out in the Indemnity Form, the Management and the Employees of Victoria Falls River Lodge are not accountable for any loss of property or injury sustained while canoeing on the Zambezi River.

Kandahar Island Picnic Lunch Canoe Safari Rate: US $35.00 per person.

  • Kandahar Island Picnic Lunch Canoe Safari, paddling to Kandahar Island for a Picnic Lunch. Departure times seasonal in consultation with Management. The duration is approximately 2-3 hours.

Half Day Canoe Safari Rate: US $75.00 per person.

  • Half Day Canoe Safari, approximately 4 hours on the Zambezi River. This can be a morning or afternoon activity with lunch or dinner back at the lodge. Departure times seasonal in consultation with Management.

Full Day Canoe Safari Rate: US $ 115.00 per person.

  • Full Day Canoe Safari, approximately 8 hours on the Zambezi River. Packed picnic lunch and drinks on the river bank or on an island. Dinner is enjoyed back at the lodge. Departure times seasonal in consultation with Management.

FISHING SAFARIS (AVAILABLE AT AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE)

General Terms and Conditions:

  • Minimum age for children accompanied by parents on Fishing Safaris is 4 years of age provided they have sole use of the boat.
  • All Fishing Safaris subject to a minimum of 1 Guest and a maximum of 4 guests.
  • All Guests are to sign Fishing Safari Indemnity Forms.
  • All Fishing Safaris are conducted by a Licensed Professional River Guide or Boat Captain.
  • As with all Wildlife and Outdoor Adventure Activities there is an inherent element of risk involved in Fishing Safaris on the Zambezi due to crocodiles, hippo and elephant.
  • Victoria Falls River Lodge will take every possible contingency to minimize risk, but as per the terms and conditions for Fishing Safaris, as spelt out in the Indemnity Form, the Management and the Employees of Victoria Falls River Lodge are not accountable for any loss of property or injury sustained while fishing on the Zambezi River.
  • Departure times are seasonal and in consultation with Management

  • Fishing Safaris from the Boat
    • US $20.00 per hour per Angler.
    • Any lost or broken tackle for the Angler’s account.
    • All tackle, bait, and boat costs to be supplied and covered by Victoria Falls River Lodge.

    • US $20.00 rod fee per Angler per day.
    • Any lost or broken tackle for the Angler’s account.

WALKING SAFARIS (AVAILABLE AT AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE)

  • General Terms and Conditions:
      • Minimum age for children accompanied by parents on a Walking Safaris is 12 years of age.
      • All Walking Safaris subject to a minimum of 2 guests and a maximum of 4 guests.
      • All Walking Safaris into the Zambezi National Park are conducted by a Licensed Professional Guide
      • As with all Wildlife and Outdoor Adventure Activities there is an inherent element of risk involved in Walking Safaris
      • Victoria Falls River Lodge will take every possible contingency to minimize risk, but as per the terms and conditions for Walking Safaris, as spelt out in the Indemnity Form, the Management and the Employees of Victoria Falls River Lodge are not accountable for any loss of property or injury sustained while walking in the Zambezi National Park.

Per Zimbabwe National Parks, the following Conservation Fees currently (as at July 2016) apply for entry into Zambezi National Park:

International Visitors USD 8 per person per night – Children 6-12 years is USD 4 per person per night
Regional Visitors USD 6 per person per night – Children 6-12 years is USD 3 per person per night
Zimbabwe Residents USD 3 per person per night – Children 6-12 years is USD 1.50 per person per night

APPENDIX B

TERMS & CONDITIONS 2017

Changes to Rates Victoria Falls River Lodge reserves the right to amend rates but will honour any confirmed bookings at the existing agreed upon rates.  A booking is defined as ‘confirmed’ when the property has received payment / is holding a valid voucher.
Check in / Check out It is strongly advised that guests arrive in Camp at around 14h00 on their day of arrival and kindly request that rooms are vacated by 10h00 on their day of departure.  Guests arriving after 16h00 will be unable to join the afternoon activity.
Day Rooms NIL
Tourism Levy The Government Tourism Levy (currently 2% in Zimbabwe) is included in rates quoted.
Value Added Tax (VAT) Accommodation rates quoted are inclusive of 15 % VAT.
Payment Method Accommodation rates are quoted, invoiced and payable in US Dollars ($).  Direct bank transfer is the preferred method of payment.  Bank charges are for the payee’s account.  A 5% surcharge (on the invoice total) will be levied on all payments made via credit card.  Cash (US$), Visa and MasterCard payments are accepted at the Lodge.

Peak/High Season: during the months of June, July, August, September, October, mid-to-late December and early January – Victoria Falls River Lodge reserves the right to charge FULL cancellation payment on any bookings cancelled 30 days prior to arrival.

FIT Payment Policy A minimum deposit payment of 25% is required within 14 days of the booking being made order to secure / confirm a booking.  Full pre-payment is required 30 days prior to the date of arrival, unless alternative payment terms have been agreed upon.  For bookings made less than 30 days prior to arrival, full pre-payment within 72 hours is required.  In the case of tour operators who have authorised credit arrangements with Victoria Falls River Lodge – a valid voucher is required 30 days prior to the arrival date to secure / confirm the reservation.

The guest will be charged 50% of the total price if they cancel after reservation, and the total price if they cancel in the 30 days (i.e. 29-0 days) before arrival.

Transfers

Transfers from and back to the Victoria Falls Airport (upon arrival and departure) are included in the aforementioned rate – guests are kindly requested to advise relevant flight times.  Guests arriving after 16h00 will be unable to join the afternoon activity.

It should be noted that the aforementioned included transfers from/to the Victoria Falls Airport are shared (i.e. with other guests travelling to/from Victoria Falls River Lodge) and direct (i.e. there are no unscheduled stops between the designated collection and drop off points).

Private transfers (airport or other) and / or additional luggage vehicles etc. can be arranged if required.  Kindly contact our team directly for more information regarding the relevant Terms and Conditions and additional costs applicable.

Sharing Children Policy:

0 – 3 year olds: Accommodated at no extra cost.  4 – 11 year olds:  accommodated at 25% of the adult sharing rate, with their parents (or 2 x adults) within a Family Suite.  12 – 17 year olds:  accommodated at 50% (half) of the adult sharing rate, with their parents (or 2 x adults) within the Family Suite.  18 years and older: persons aged 18 years and older are considered adults and will therefore require their own room/suite at the applicable adult rates.

Children accommodated in their own tent will be charged the full adult rate (i.e. the first two occupants of a tent (regardless of age) shall be charged the full adult sharing rate where after the age appropriate discounted sharing child rate(s) shall apply where applicable. NOTE: owing to the Lodge being unfenced and located in a National Park – and given that the tents are spaced between 40-60m apart – it is not recommended that children younger than 16 years occupy a tent on their own (without an older sibling / adult present).

Family rooms can accommodate up to 3 children – under the age of 18 years (sharing with adults) – in a smaller room adjoining the main bedroom area.  This alcove is separated from the main area by a curtain and contains a bunk bed and one single bed.  The bathroom is open plan and shared.

Camp cots are available with prior arrangement and each accommodates a maximum of one child.  Child minding services are available at an additional cost and are conducted by lodge staff.  NB:  Children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians.  The camp is situated in a National Park and is unfenced.  The pools too are not fenced or manned by staff.

ISLAND TREEHOUSE SUITES

The Island Treehouse Suites each accommodate a maximum of 2 sharing guests.

No persons younger than 12 years shall be accommodated on the Island.

Children accommodated in their own room will be charged the full adult rate (i.e. the first two occupants of a room (regardless of age) shall be charged the full adult sharing rate).

NOTE: owing to the Island Treehouse Suites being unfenced and located in a National Park it is not recommended that children younger than 16 years occupy a room on their own (without an older sibling / adult present).  NB:  Children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians.   Plunge pools are neither cordoned off nor manned by lifesavers / staff.

Tour Leaders/Private Guides/Interpreters/Pilot (does not apply to Tour Series or Groups)

1-9 paying guests – Tour Leader pays 50% of per person sharing rate; 10 or more paying guests – Tour Leader stays free (on the same rate inclusions and exclusions – i.e. International vs SADC – as the paying guests). Subject to availability.

International: Guide/Pilot – $ 242.00 per person per night (Guide Accommodation) – net and non-commissionable

SADC: Guide/Pilot – $ 190.00 per person per night (Guide Accommodation) – net and non-commissionable

ISLAND TREEHOUSE SUITES

Owing to the limited number of rooms available – no reduced rate for Tour Leaders / Private Guides / Interpreters or Pilots is possible.

There is also no Guide Accommodation on Kandahar Island.

Should guests wish to be accompanied by any of the abovementioned parties – a Island Treehouse Suite will need to be booked for this party and the full rate shall apply.

Private / Sole Use Game Viewer

Guests wishing to secure a guaranteed sole use game drive vehicle may book this at the additional rate of $220.00 per drive (net and non-commissionable).

Families wishing to take children aged 4 – 7 years  on a game drive will require a sole use game viewer – at  the additional net cost of $ 220.00 per drive – however this is subject to the availability of vehicles (i.e. if sufficient vehicles are available on a particular drive, no charge shall be levied).

Travelling Companions  When visiting Victoria Falls River Lodge on safari, guests will encounter a number of fellow guests of various ages from different countries.  In order for all to get the maximum enjoyment from the visit, consideration for each other is paramount.  The Management of the Lodge therefore reserves the right to warn any guest whose behaviour they deem to be having a negative impact on the safety or enjoyment of any other guest.  The offending guest will be escorted off the premises if such a warning be ignored.  Any costs (including but not limited to transfers, flight changes, alternative accommodation etc.) arising from such a situation will be for the guests’ own account.
Force Majeure Victoria Falls River Lodge shall not be compelled to perform any obligation under the Contract if such performance is rendered impossible, substantially more difficult or delayed as a result of Acts, Orders, or Regulations issued by Central or Local Government, industrial disputes (whether official or unofficial), war, riots, hostilities, flood, fire, accident, act of God, epidemic or from any other cause, event or occurrence which Victoria Falls River Lodge is unable to prevent having due regard to its interests. Victoria Falls River Lodge shall not be liable for any loss, cost or delay arising from or as a result of such non-performance.  The onus is on the operator to ensure that their clients are in possession of adequate travel insurance.
